AUGUST 2009
August 17th: Boone Returns to Field Trial Camp
- Boone has taken almost a years hiatis from field trials, except for three trials in the Spring. Today he has returned to full time Field Trial camp with his trainer/handler Bob Seelye. His first field trial is in early September. We miss him, but plan to attend most of his trials this season. Go Boone Go!

July 28th: Saying Goodbye to Cannon
- Cannon, owned and loved by Tracy and Joe Faber, bred and loved by us, and handled in the field by Bob Seelye to the #1 Puppy/Derby Vizsla in the country in May of this year; has left us this day. We miss him terribly. It's hard to comprehend the loss of such a beautiful, sweet and talented young boy. He has left a lasting memory for all that loved him. We have dedicated a video in his memory here.

May 31st: Cannon is #1 Puppy/Derby Vizsla and Tori is #7!
- Cannon completes his puppy/derby career at the top of the Puppy/Derby list! He is Blaze's second get to achieve #1 puppy/derby. Sister Tori completed her puppy/derby career as #7 on the list. Blaze now has a total of five offspring from two litters that have achieved Top Ten Puppy/Derby status!
May 2nd: Cannon Wins the Open Derby Stake at HVBC
- Cannon wins Open Derby at the Hudson Valley Brittany Club's spring field trial, held in Oxford NY. This was Cannon's final Derby run, as he ages out on May 22nd. Congrats to Joe and Tracy on their fantastic boy!

- Greta places fourth in the Open Gun Dog major retrieving stake and fourth in the Open Limited Gun Dog stake at the Nutmeg German Shorthaired Pointer Club's spring field trial, held in East Windsor CT on the Flaherty Field Trial grounds.
April 4th: Maddy Takes Fourth in Open Derby at WCWDC
- Maddy places fourth in the OD at the Weimaraner Club of the DC Area's spring field trial, held in Clear Spring MD at the Indian Springs WMA. Maddy was handled by her owner Mike Moore.
April 4th: Boone Completes JH
- Boone has had three legs of JH since he was a puppy, and this weekend we decided to enter him in our CVC hunt test to finish it up. On Saturday he completed his requirements with the fourth JH leg, making him a new Junior Hunter - and Blaze's sixth JH offspring.
April 3rd: Tess is Expecting Puppies
- Tess, from our first litter (Blaze x Bunker), was bred to Marcia Schlesinger's Topper (FC AFC Da Capo by Barktalk). Tess is expecting puppies around mid-May. We are looking forward to this litter, and we are so excited for the breeder, Stephanie Estes. Although she has been involved with the breed for many years, this is her first litter. March 29th: Katy Takes Second in Amateur Walking Derby at TBVC
- Katy takes second place in the AWD stake at the Tampa Bay Vizsla Club's spring field trial, held in Lake Wales, FL. She was handled by her owner Will Garrett. This was Katy's last run in derby. We are looking forward to her gun dog career.
March 27th: Boone and Greta Compete at the AKC Pointing Breed Gun Dog Championships
- Boone and Greta ran today at the beautiful Leggett farm grounds in Danville Virginia for the AKC Pointing Breed Gun Dog Championships. There were so many dogs entered - this event went on for nearly two weeks! We ran the very last day, in the deep mud and cold rain. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, and we are really looking forward to the Vizsla Club of America's 2009 National Field Trial to be held there. The club house is perfect for hosting large parties, and the amenities are awesome. Boone and Greta are just coming off the couch. So while it wasn't their day, they did get their pictures posted on the AKC website here.

- Maddy places fourth in the AWD at the Mason-Dixon GSP Club's spring field trial. Maddy was handled by her owner Mike Moore.
March 22nd: Tori Takes Second in Amateur Walking Derby at VBC
- Tori places 2nd in AWD at the Volunteer Brittany Club's spring field trial, held in Collierville, TN. Tori was handled by her owner Phil Stout. This is Tori's last run in derby. She'll be taking some time in the show ring, and then off later this summer for gun dog training!
March 21st: Tori Takes Second in Open Derby at VBC
- Tori places 2nd in OD at the Volunteer Brittany Club's spring field trial, held in Collierville, TN. Tori was handled by her owner Phil Stout.
March 15th: Cannon Takes Third in Open Derby at CVC
- Cannon takes a 3rd place in the Open Derby at CVC's spring field trial, held in Sumerduck, VA. Cannon was handled by his trainer Bob Seelye. This is Cannon's first time down this season, and will be entered on a limited basis between now and when he ages out in May.
March 14th: Blaze Wins the Hunting Dog Stake at CVC
-Blaze and Michelle had a blast on Saturday running in the non-regular Hunting Dog Stake at the Conestoga Vizsla Club's spring field trial. Blaze had not been out on birds since October of last year. She surprised us at how well she handled, with a lot of finds, one covey find, and very stylish points. Blaze won the stake, earning her the beautiful Bob Estes Memorial Traveling Trophy! Michelle also ran Zoe in the stake, since her owner Stephanie Estes couldn't be there. Zoe hunted beautifully and put down an excellent hunting dog run! She took 2nd place in the stake. The experience was very special. The late Bob Estes, Stephanie's husband, was a great friend of ours and Zoe's huntin' buddy. Our first Vizsla Zeke and Zoe are full siblings.

February 22nd: Katy Takes Second in Open Derby at GAGSC
- Katy takes second place in the OD stake at the Greater Atlanta Gordon Setter Club's field trial in Cedartown, GA. She was handled by her owner, Will Garrett. Will's other dog, Jack (a green broke gun dog), got around the course clean with three nice finds! Congrats Will!
February 15th: Katy Wins the Amateur Walking Derby at TVWC
- Katy won the AWD at the Tennessee Valley Weimaraner Club field trial, handled by her owner Will Garrett. Will reports that Katy had six nice finds, and displayed her typical 200 yard casts! Will loves his girl! :)
February 14th: Tori Goes Best of Breed at South Arkansas Kennel Club
- Tori gets her first BOB today at the South Arkansas Kennel Club show! So far Toto is having a great 2009!
February 1st: Tori and Cannon are Top Ten Puppy/Derby Littermates
- Tori is now ranked #10, and Cannon is ranked #6 for Top Puppy/Derby Vizslas in the US! These two littermates will see limited to no trialing this season, before "aging out" at two years of age on May 22nd. We are proud that they've both made the Top Ten! Big congrats to their owners, the Stouts and the Fabers!

November 30th: Happy Birthday to Super Mama Blaze
- Today Blaze turns seven years old! It seems like yesterday that we brought her home, a little 12 week old bundle of cuddly licky-face joy! Seven years later, and she'll still lick your face off! Happy Birthday to our totally sweet and awesome mama!
November 22nd: The Boone Doggie is Home
- The season has ended, and our sweet boy Boone is back home again! He returns a "changed man" with more maturity, more experience in his birdwork, and a father. His sweet nature is the same as always. He has resumed his snuggle spot on the couch next to our daughter Shelby, and his mom Blaze.
November 22nd: Greta Wins the Open Gun Dog Major at SMES
- Greta has won a 3 point major Open Gun Dog stake, at the Southern Maryland English Setter field trial! She had a beautiful run with many finds and clean bird work, and had a blast doing it! What a way to end the field trial season! Blaze is receiving extra special treatment for producing two of the winning dogs in the same trial and a new Junior Hunter - all this weekend!
November 22nd: Tori Wins the Open Derby at SMES
- Tori earns her derby points at the Southern Maryland English Setter field trial, by winning the Open Derby stake! Way to go Toto Midge!
November 22nd: Katy is a Junior Hunter
- Katy completed her final leg of Junior Hunter on Saturday with high scores! She was handled by her owner Will Garrett. Katy is the fourth JH titled dog from our Blaze x Dulin litter.
November 17th: Shelby is Two Years Old Today
- It is hard to believe, but our baby girl Shelby turns two years old today. She's a true joy in our lives, and loves the dogs as much as mom and dad do.
November 8th: Maddy is a Junior Hunter
- Maddy completed her final leg of Junior Hunter on Saturday with great scores and compliments from the judges. Maddy is trained and handled by her owner Mike Moore. Way to go guys!

October 19th: Maddy Wins the Amateur Walking Derby at ODVC
- Maddy won the Amateur Walking Derby, handled by her owner Mike Moore! This is one of her first field trials, and her first blue ribbon!
October 12th: Happy Third Birthday to Broad Run's First Litter
-Broad Run's first litter is turning three today. Happy Birthday to Boone, Tess, Greta, Sierra, Gia, Magoo, Lilly & Lily.
October 12th: Cannon Takes Second at MVVC
- Cannon takes a 2nd place in the Open Derby at MVVC's fall field trial. Blaze is getting first class treatment today for producing two placing dogs (Cannon and Boone) in the same trial, from two separate litters. Way to go boys!
October 11th: Boone Wins a Four Point Major Retrieving Gun Dog Stake at MVVC!
- Boone has won a 4 point gun dog retrieving stake! This was only Boone's fourth time out in a gun dog stake, his first entry into a retrieving stake, and his first Gun Dog placement! We are just blown away! What a way to celebrate his third birthday, which is tomorrow October 12th!
October 5th: Octane is Our Breed's Newest Dual Champion
- Octane took 1st in the OGD 3 point retrieving stake, to finish his Field Championship! This makes him our breed's newest Dual Champion! Octane is Blaze's littermate, and we have followed his show and field successes since he was a little pup. He is an outstanding dog, and a remarkable addition to the breed! Huge congratulations to his owner Joan Heimbach, and to his trainer/handler Bob Seelye!
October 5th: Greta Does it Again
- Greta took 2nd place in OLGD at the Conestoga Vizsla Club fall field trial. This was an all breed 25-dog major, and was only Greta's third time out as a green broke gun dog! September 13th: Greta Takes 2nd in a 26-dog All Breed Open Limited Gun Dog Stake
- Greta took 2nd place in OLGD at the Hudson Valley GSP Club. This was an all breed 26-dog major, and was only Greta's second time out as a green broke gun dog! She has now earned 2 more points towards her Field Championship!
September 13th: Cannon Wins Another Open Derby
- Cannon has taken another 1st place in Open Derby, at the Hudson Valley GSP Club. Cannon is currently the #6 Puppy/Derby on Remek's Top 15 Field Trial Database!

August 24th: Puppies Return to Camp
- Tori and Cannon have returned to their pro handler Bob Seelye for another season of Puppy/Derby field trialing. They join their half siblings Boone, Tess, and Greta - who will be making their Gun Dog debuts this Fall field trial season.

July 27th: Tori Goes Best of Winners at Longview Kennel Club
- Tori went Winners Bitch and Best of Winners at the Longview KC show in Longview TX. This was just her second weekend of showing. She is handled by professional show handler Greg Eschette, and owned by Carole and Phil Stout of WindDance Vizslas. Tori is from our second litter, Blaze x Dulin.
July 20th: Meg and Boone have been bred
- Boone has met his first love, Upwind Meg! The two were bred this week, and puppies should be expected around the end of September.

May 24th & 25th: Tori is a Junior Hunter
- Tori and Maddy were entered in Junior Hunter this weekend. Tori has now completed her JH title, sister Maddy needs one more leg.
May 17th: Lobster Feast and Puppies' 1st Birthday Celebration
- Broad Run's second litter was able to meet up at the PBDT&A Annual Lobster Feast for a puppy reunion and 1st Birthday celebration. The puppies will turn one on May 22nd. - Boone has returned to camp for more Gun Dog training. This time he will be gone throughout the summer, and Shelby will really miss him! We hope to have him ready to be entered in Gun Dog stakes this Fall 2008.

April 5th: Cannon, Tori, and Katy Take Placements in All-Breed Stakes at Nutmeg GSP

March 8th & 9th: Blaze & Dulin Puppies Work Towards JH Titles
- Cannon, Tori, and Katy all earned their first two legs towards their Junior Hunter titles this weekend.
March 2nd: Cannon Takes Third at the VCA NGDC Open Puppy Stake

- Cannon at 9 months of age was entered in his first field trial this weekend, and took 1st place in Open Puppy at the Eastern GSP Spring FT. Cannon also took 3rd in Amateur Walking Puppy, handled by his owner Tracy Faber. Katy took 4th place in Open Puppy.

January 28th: The Loss of a Very Dear Friend, Bob Estes
- It is with great sadness that I post that we have lost a dear friend, Bob Estes of Vitesse Vizslas, who suddenly and tragically passed away this day. Bob thoroughly enjoyed life to it's fullest, and was such a great friend to all that knew him. We will always treasure our memories of times spent with Bob. He is survived by his beloved wife Stephanie Estes and his two dogs, Zoe and Tess. He will be so sorely missed by many. Obituary.
Mid-January: Dogs Return to Camp
- Boone , Tess, and Greta (from our first litter) and Cannon, Tori, and Katy (from our second litter) all return back to Strawberry Hill Farm to train with professional handler Bob Seelye. Boone , Tess, and Greta will be training for Gun Dog stakes throughout the season and the summer. Cannon, Tori, and Katy will begin training for puppy stakes to be run this spring. Maddy (from our second litter) will also appear in some upcoming local trials and hunt tests, handled by her owner Mike Moore.
January 5th: Katy Takes Placements at Her First Field Trial
- Katy at 8 months of age was entered in her first field trial this weekend, and was handled by her owner Will Garrett. Katy took 2nd place in Amateur Walking Puppy and 3rd place in Open Puppy at GSP of Atlanta, an all-breed trial. Way to go Will & Katy!

October 12th: Broad Run's First Litter Celebrates Second Birthday
-Broad Run's first litter is turning two today. Boone , Tess, and Greta have now "aged-out" of puppy/derby and return home for a break. Soon they will begin training for gun dog stakes.

February 16th: Tess Places at Tampa Bay Vizsla Club
-Tess takes 4th in the 21-dog Open Derby stake.
February 9th: Greta Wins Open Derby at North FL GSP
-Greta gets the blue in an 18-dog, 4 point Open Derby stake.
February 3rd: Boone Places at the Mid-FL Brittany Club
-Boone places 3rd in the 18-dog Open Derby stake.
JANUARY 2007
January 20th: Boone and Tess Place at North Florida GSP
January 5th: Greta wins Open Puppy at GSP of Atlanta
-Greta wins 1st in a 13-dog Open Puppy stake.
January 2nd: Dogs Return to Camp
- Blaze , Boone , Tess, and Greta all return back to Strawberry Hill Farm to travel the southern field trialing circuit with professional handler Bob Seelye.

November 17th: Baby Dowd is Born
- Our baby girl Shelby was born today at 7:13pm! She was 7lbs and 1oz, 20.5 inches. Introducing future Vizsla-lover Shelby Faye Dowd! Mom and baby are doing well, and the dogs luuuvvvv her!!!
November 13th: Boone is Home for the Holidays
-Boone came home today! He'll be here when his human sister makes her arrival (very soon!), and he will stay through the holidays. Around mid-January he'll return to the field. Momma Blaze is working on her skills with handler Bob Seelye, and will return home for a break in a few weeks. We are looking forward to having everyone together again.
November 11th: Pups Take Placements at Nutmeg GSP Fall Trial
-Greta takes 2nd in Open Puppy.
-Tess takes 4th in Open Derby.
November 4th: Greta Takes Blue in DC Weim Open Derby
-Greta takes her first blue ribbon in a 20-dog Open Derby stake at the WCWDCA fall trial, held in Upper Marlboro MD! GOooo Greta!
-Tess takes 2nd in the same stake! Way to go girls!
OCTOBER 2006
October 28th: Boone Takes 2nd in VCA National Open Puppy!
-Boone takes 2nd in Open Puppy at the VCA Nationals, held in Wye Island MD. Click here for photo of the puppy placements! Congratulations to all the dogs who placed at the VCA 2006 Nationals!

October 14th: Boone Wins Open Puppy in Ohio
-Boone takes 1st in Open Puppy at the Miami Valley Vizsla Club's fall trial, held in Fayetteville OH.
October 12th: Broad Run Pups Celebrate First Birthday
-Broad Run's first litter is turning one year today!! Oh, how time flies! It seems like yesterday that these babies were born! Today Boone, Tess and Greta will celebrate their first birthday on the road - in route to the next trial, in Ohio. We'll lavish them with doggie birthday cake when the season ends!
October 7th: Boone Earns His First Derby Placement at Conestoga
-Boone takes 2nd in the Amateur Walking Derby stake at the Conestoga Vizsla Club's fall trial, held in Clear Spring MD. This is his first Derby win, at just under one year of age! I was fortunate to attend the trial and (barely) walk the brace, but way too far along in my pregnancy to handle the big boy. Big thanks to our friend Robert Gravely for handling him!
-Blaze ran in her first Gun Dog stake at this trial. She did what we expected at this point in her training - a very nice run, but not enough experience yet to give a winning performance!
-Greta's "big brother" Ryder takes 4th place in the Hunting Dog Championship! Congrats to Garrett, Jacqueline and Ryder!
SEPTEMBER 2006
September 30th: Success in Michigan
-Tess takes her first blue ribbon in the 20-dog Open Puppy stake at the Vizsla Club of Michigan's fall trial!! This win qualifies her to run in the VCA National Field Trial Derby Classic.
-Greta places 3rd in the Open Puppy stake.
-Boone doesn't run this weekend, because of a big storm that came through before his brace.
September 23rd: More Puppy Success in Ohio
-Boone takes 2nd in the Open Puppy stake at the Irish Setter of Ohio's fall trial, held in Harpster OH.
-Greta places 4th in the same stake!!
September 17th: Boone & Greta Complete the Weekend with a Bang
-Boone takes 1st place in the Amateur Puppy stake!! Big thanks to Robert Gravely (grandson of John Books) for handling our puppy! With this win Boone earns his first AFC puppy point. We are so excited for our sweet young boy, and we are looking forward to a fun season with him.
-Greta places 2nd in the same stake!!
September 16th: Big Puppy Success at the Greater Cleveland Trial
- Boone, Greta and Tess enter their first Open Puppy stake of the season, and take three of the four placements at the Vizsla Club of Greater Cleveland's fall trial, held in Harpster OH!
-Boone places 1st, Greta places 2nd, Tess places 4th in Open Puppy. Boone earns his first FC puppy point with this win, and is now eligible to run in the VCA National Field Trial Derby Classic!
-Owners of Tess, Bob & Stephanie Estes, traveled to Ohio to watch the fun! We unfortunately couldn't make it. Doctor's orders...it's too far to travel at 7 months pregnant!
-Blaze didn't run in the trial, but will be entered in her first Gun Dog stake a few weeks from now. We are looking forward to her rookie Gun Dog season!

August 1st: Off to Fall Camp
- Blaze , Boone , Tess, Gia and Greta all head to Strawberry Hill Farm to begin Fall training with their professional handler Bob Seelye.

June 10th: Tess is a Junior Hunter
-Tess completes her JH title with style at the Weimaraner Club of Greater Cleveland hunt test, held in Cardington OH.

May 26th & 27th: More Junior Hunter Passes
-Boone and Tess earn second and third JH passes at the Delaware Valley German Wirehaired Pointer Club hunt test, held in Weatherly PA.
May 7th: Puppies First Junior Hunter Passes
-Boone, Greta and Tess earn their first JH passes at the Wilderness Pointer Club of Virginia hunt test, held in Orange VA.
May 1st: Boone on Summer Break
-Boone returns home for summer break! We're so excited to have our puppy back home! Summer plans include entering some Junior Hunt tests, taking beginner agility, and relaxing!
APRIL 2006
April 22nd & 23rd: Broad Run's First Litter Experience First Field Trial Successes
-Boone places 4th in Amateur Walking Puppy at the Show Me Vizsla Club Spring Trial at just barely 6 months of age! Huge thanks to our dear friend Trish Burdin for running our boy in Amateur, since we could not make it!
-Tess places 4th in Open Puppy at the Show Me Vizsla Club Spring Trial! Congrats to her owners Stephanie and Bob Estes (Vitesse Vizslas) who are so very excited for their first field trial Vizsla!
April 1st: Off for a Mini-Spring Camp
-Boone , Tess, Gia and Greta of the Blaze/Bunker 05 litter all leave with their professional handler Bob Seelye for their very first field trial experiences in Iowa!! At only 5 months of age, all four puppies are running big, pointing beautifully, and showing lots of desire. They will turn 6 months while on the road out west, and will return home in one month.
MARCH 2006
March 18th: New Addition to Broad Run
-We're expecting a new addition to Broad Run on November 27th. This time it's of the human variety! :)
March 1st: Blaze on Summer Break
-Blaze returns home from her southern vacation. She will begin her Gun Dog training in August. We plan to have her prepared to enter trials again by late Fall 06.

February 12th: Puppies Enjoy First Bird Work
-At four months of age Boone, Tess, and Sierra go out for their first experience on birds! All three pups successfully found and pointed their birds. The switch has been turned ON! They didn't want to leave the field. These pups are hooked, just like the owners!

January 6th: Blaze Travels South
-Blaze leaves with her pro handler Bob Seelye to travel the southern circuit. She hasn't been in the field for over two years, so she's not nearly ready to enter Gun Dog stakes yet. This trip's purpose is to get her back in the swing of traveling, and to give her a much needed break from puppies!

December 12th: Pups Join New Families
-Puppies leave at 8 weeks of age, to their new loving homes! Three of the pups have gone to current Vizsla homes and will be field trialed, two have gone to hunting family homes, and two have gone to be great family pets! First born male, Boone (f.k.a. "Hoss") is staying with us. We have plans to trial him as well.

October 12th: The Birth of Broad Run's First Litter
-Blaze & Bunker pups were born on Oct. 12th! Everyone is healthy and beautiful! Click here to see pictures of these eight new babes! This is Broad Run's first litter, and we are enjoying every moment!

The Loss of a Best Friend
Our best buddy Zeke has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We lost him quickly to a very aggressive form of cancer. By the time he showed signs of illness, it was too late. Zeke was our first Vizsla, and we miss him so dearly. We are forever grateful for his introduction to this wonderful breed. He's the reason we're doing this! Click here for more on Zeke.
