We named Luna "Broad Run's Blue Moon" because we believed that like a blue moon, she is a rare occurrence. As a young puppy she displayed such a calm and even temperament, and everyone described her as an "old soul". Although now she occassionally has moments of "Luna-tic"! She was an easy puppy to pick, with her great nose for birds and beautiful structure. We had planned for this litter and to keep a puppy from it for several years. We are thankful that Laura Bauman allowed us to breed our Blaze to her Celtic. We feel that the combination is exactly what we were looking for - dual quality, great health, intelligence and great temperaments. Luna is the only bitch that we own from our Foundation Bitch Blaze. She certainly has some big paw prints to fill!
Unfortunately at the end of June 2010 Luna suffered a terrible accident. She broke her neck while running and was nearly paralyzed. She has been making a slow but steady recovery, and we are glad to report that now (November 2010) she is almost back to her 'old' (young) self again. We have been very blessed.
Currently Luna is doing limited field trialing and has been shown in a couple of conformation shows, all owner trained and handled. We will get more involved with her as she matures and continues to heal. Her future might also see some different venues that we don't typically get involved in - possibly some agility and obedience competition. Whatever we might try, we're pretty sure that Luna will do it with enthusiasm!
