Contrary to popular belief Blaze is not named for blaze orange, but for St. Blaise who is the patron saint of wild animals. At her very first field trial she broke away like a rocket, and we knew that from there forward her name would have two meanings! She is retired from field trialing now, but still brings us much pleasure on occasional hunting trips. She still has much of the drive and desire that she had as a young pup. At her last trial in Spring 2009, she was awarded the Bob Estes Memorial Trophy for taking first in the Hunting Dog Stake at the Conestoga Vizslas Club's Spring Field Trial. She is so sweet and a real joy to all that meet her, a true "Velcro Vizsla". Blaze has given us three awesome litters that have the same competitive drive that she has always displayed (see Progeny). She was ranked #4 on the VCA Top Ten Puppy/Derby list (12/03), and is a littermate to:

Blaze has produced 22 offspring, eleven whom have or are competing in AKC events. One Field Champion, eight pointed in the field, six Top Ten Puppy/Derby, eight Junior Hunters, and two pointed in the show ring. Blaze's last litter was born August 2009 out of BISS CH AFC Comynara Celtic Red Oak MH. Two puppies from this litter are being shown and field trialed. Blaze is now spayed and retired, and certainly has left her legacy in her get.
